Privacy Policy

CastIQ ("we", "our", "the app") is a fishing performance tracker built for recreational anglers. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Data you provide directly

• Display name (optional, stored locally)
• Fishing session details: location name, notes, gear, species, catch data
• Gear setup information (rods, reels, lures, baits)

Data collected automatically during sessions

• Location (GPS): Used to draw session tracks and mark fishing spots. Stored on-device only. Never transmitted to our servers. Requires "While Using App" location permission.
• Heart rate (HealthKit): Optional. Used to enrich session records with exertion data. Read-only. Never shared or sold. Requires HealthKit permission.
• Motion data (CoreMotion): Used on Apple Watch for session activity tracking. Processed on-device only. Never transmitted.
• Barometric pressure: Collected from device sensors during active sessions. Used to correlate conditions with catch performance. Stored locally.

Weather and forecast data

We use WeatherKit (Apple) to retrieve local forecasts. This requires your approximate location. WeatherKit data is subject to Apple's privacy policy.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect advertising identifiers
• We do not track you across other apps or websites
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
• We do not store GPS tracks or catch locations on external servers

iCloud Sync (Elite tier)

If you enable iCloud sync, your session data is synced via Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. This data is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy. We cannot access it.

Analytics (Optional)

We collect anonymous, aggregate usage analytics (which features are used, crash reports) to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity. You can opt out in Settings → Privacy.

Children's Privacy

CastIQ does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+.

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored on your device (or your personal iCloud, if sync is enabled). To delete all data: Settings → Privacy → Delete All Data. This is irreversible.

Changes to This Policy

We will notify users of material changes via an in-app notification before the change takes effect.
